They Told Granny To Close Her Eyes Before Showing Her Something Incredible Thu, 31 Mar 2016 07:40:56 +0000 We’ve seen hundreds of videos involving surprise pregnancy announcements, but as adorable as those videos are, this one gives them all a run for their money.

You Tuber Jeff Deal and his wife had a very big surprise planned for his grandmother when they showed up at her house one day. Before they began, they told her to keep her eyes closed and sit down.

“It is with immeasurable joy that I introduce you to your great-grandson, Jordan Chase,” were the words Grandma heard as she opened her eyes and instantly started crying. The couple had been trying to adopt for nearly 20 years, so this was a very special moment for everyone involved.

These are the experiences that make life worth living. Don’t you feel like you’re right there in the room with them? There’s nothing quite as beautiful as the love of family.

Hundreds Of Students Left Their Rooms Late At Night To Do Something Breathtaking Thu, 31 Mar 2016 07:32:21 +0000 After a long, competitive day at the All-State Chorus Competition in Louisville, Kentucky, 500 talented high school students lined the balconies of their 18-story hotel and teamed up for a magical performance.

That’s when hundreds of beautiful voices started singing the national anthem in stunning unison. It’s a tradition that’s been going on for a few years now, and it’s one that never fails to give listeners goosebumps.

Talk about great acoustics, am I right? Paired with immense talent, this was a recipe for success that led to a seriously impressive payoff.

When You See This Abandoned, Neglected Pit Bull, Your Heart Will Shatter Wed, 30 Mar 2016 08:51:13 +0000 Thousands of loving pit bulls end up in shelters around the country each year.

People are quick to abandon these dogs, and because of breed stereotypes, they often ignore them when they see them on the street. Worse still is that potential adopters walk right past pit bulls in shelters for the same reason.

Dennis was one pit bull that sadly became a statistic. When the good people at Hope For Paws found him, he was sick, neglected, and in desperate need of some love. Although the situation looked dire, these volunteers pulled off an incredible rescue. Watch until the end to learn a painful, powerful lesson about animal cruelty.

Unfortunately, Dennis was too weak to pull through, but I know for a fact that these volunteers would do it all again if they could.

Thousands of animals need our help, which makes the work of rescuers so important. Head over to the organization’s website to find out how you can lend a helping hand.

What He Finds Dumpster Diving Will Make You Sick — But Not For The Reason You’d Expect Tue, 29 Mar 2016 07:09:45 +0000 Have you ever thrown out food because it said it was past its “sell by” date? What about your leftovers at a fancy restaurant?

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, in 2008, 43 billion pounds of food were thrown out by retail locations (grocery stores) and 86 billion pounds were disposed of by households and food service operations (restaurants, cafeterias, fast food, and caterers).

That’s nearly 130 billion pounds of food.

But what does that really translate to? Comedian Jeff Seal took to the streets of New York City — a place where the cost of living is the fifth highest in the world and the homelessness problem is undeniable — to find out.

While the USDA says that food loss is actually economically efficient in some instances, they also note that there’s only so much we can do to recover the loss given,

“(1) technical factors (e.g., the perishable nature of most foods, food safety, storage, and temperature considerations); (2) temporal and spatial factors (e.g., the time needed to deliver food to a new destination, and the dispersion of food loss among millions of households, food processing plants, and foodservice locations); (3) individual consumers’ tastes, preferences, and food habits (e.g., throwing out milk left over in a bowl of cereal); and (4) economic factors (e.g., costs to recover and redirect uneaten food to another use).”

France made it illegal for grocery stores to throw away edible food, but unfortunately, few other countries are following suit. Maybe America should seriously consider it!

This Drowning PSA From The 1970s Gave So Many Kids Nightmares For Life Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:30:05 +0000 In the 1970s, Britain was experiencing an alarmingly high number of child fatalities from drowning. So the government decided to do something about it. In 1973, the Central Office of Information, in association with Illustra Films, produced a PSA entitled Lonely Water.

The PSA featured a demonic figure warning children to stay away from the water. It ran for several years during commercial breaks in children’s television programming. But was it effective? Check it out below and see for yourself…

Today, Lonely Water has achieved cult status, especially among adults who were children at the time it aired. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it also terrified millions of British children into never swimming again. Well, at least it kept them from drowning…?

Someone Abandoned These Three Dogs On The Streets — But There’s A Happy Ending! Fri, 25 Mar 2016 09:49:44 +0000 Owning a pet is a big responsibility…one that some people aren’t ready for. But despite there being tons of help and support out there, when certain pet owners become overwhelmed, they do the unthinkable — they abandon their dogs and cats on the streets.

Luckily for these three dogs, who were left in the hot Los Angeles sun with just a bag of bread, Hope For Paws was called. Watch what happens when they try to save the poor pups.

I don’t even want to think about what might have happened to Dee-Dee, Charlie, and Nessie had Hope For Paws not come along. If you’d like to help make more rescues like this one possible, head over to their website to donate!

He Dipped A Tire Rim In A Vat Of Water And Paint…The Results Are Amazing Thu, 24 Mar 2016 08:39:06 +0000 Have you ever seen a car with really neat details painted on the rims or grill? They’re so detailed, I’ve always wondered if they were stick-on decals.

If you think the intricate designs are crazy on their own, wait until you see the process of applying them. The company HG Arts specializes in water transfer printing, a wild procedure that is oddly satisfying to watch. See how they add details to car these parts…you’ll be mesmerized for the entire 15 minutes.

I’m embarrassed to admit just how long I was entertained by this video. If I ever tried to do this, I know I’d mess it up! It must take a lot of practice to be able to get each piece just right. Next time I see a car with detailed rims or a grill, I’ll have a new appreciation for this art.

This Awesome Lamp Looks Like A Cloud…The Best Part? You Can Make It Yourself! Wed, 23 Mar 2016 09:20:43 +0000 Having a hard time drifting off to sleep at night? Here’s a neat gadget to help bring on the dreamworld — magical clouds filled with light! No, I’m not speaking of sorcery, creating cloud lights is actually a pretty simple, quick, and fun way to decorate your bedroom. All you need is some pillow stuffing, a water bottle, glue, and christmas lights.

Best  part about this? It’s a pretty stealthy way to have a night-light that isn’t technicallya night-light. Put it in your kids’ room to get them more used to the dark or keep it all to yourself

This Pup Just Learned That Freaking Out After A Shot Means He’ll Get All The Treats Tue, 22 Mar 2016 08:28:56 +0000 It might sound weird, but my dog loves going to the vet. She knows that there are tons of new people there to pet her and plenty of treats to go around.

But I know she’s the exception, not the rule.

Our pups have it pretty easy, so it’s understandable that a trip to the vet is one of the most stressful things they experience. They’re poked and prodded…it’s far from a day at the park.

Sawyer here though, has a little trick up his sleeve to really milk every vet visit for what it’s worth. He’s learned that the louder and longer he cries after a shot, the more likely he is to get loads of treats and belly rubs..

Already suffering through two shots, and getting treats each time for whining, this sort of reaction was bound to happen. Which given how funny he is, isn’t a bad thing, right?
